  • Description:

    The Government of Kenya has received financial assistance from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Spanish Trust Fund towards financing the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project.  The goal of the project is to contribute to rural poverty reduction in the Upper Tana River Catchment through increased sustainable food production and incomes and sustainable management of natural resources for provision of environmental services. The Project Lead Agency is the Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation.  The project area covers six counties namely: Murang’a, Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Embu. The area includes Mount Kenya and Aberdare National Parks and Forest reserves.

    The project intends to use part of the funds to procure materials for Construction of 60Kms of wildlife control electric fence in Mt. Kenya Forest Reserve and National Park, Nyeri County.

    Towards accomplishing its objectives, the Upper Tana Catchment Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP) now invites sealed tenders from qualified tenderers for SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF FENCING MATERIALS FOR THE WILDLIFE CONTROL ELECTRIC FENCE PROJECT IN MT. KENYA FOREST RESERVE AND NATIONAL PARK as shown in the table below and as per specifications in the respective tender documents.

    UTaNRMP is calling for proposals from community groups to support them implement Income Generating Activities (IGAs) upon submission of acceptable proposals. The project provides Matching Grants to Common Interest Groups (CIGs) through the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU). The Grants will be output-based with release of funds being made in tranches upon the achievement of specified milestones.

    The objective of this activity is to enhance implementation capacity and governance of the Common Interest Groups (CIGs) in the implementation of Income Generating Activities (IGAs) financed through Grants to communities. The project intends therefore to hire a consulting firm as an Independent Oversight Agent that will appraise Common Interest Groups’ (CIGs) proposals and carry out implementation monitoring, capacity building and evaluation of the activities implemented by the CIGs.   • Description:

    UTaNRMP plans to utilize a portion of its funds to support placement of a professional and self-motivated Project Procurement Assistant (PPA) at the project coordination unit (PCU). The officer will be serving on a one year contract renewable annually for the period of the project subject to satisfactory annual assessment. Interested applicants should be Kenyan citizens and have capacity to work with minimum supervision to meet strict deadlines as well as working outside normal office working hours.

  • Description:

    In September 2017, UTaNRMP advertised in the media, local public institutions and through Focal Development Area Committees (FDACs) for Common Interest Groups (CIGs) to apply for matching grants from the Project under the 4th Call for Proposals. The grants are meant to support the implementation of community based Income Generating Activities (IGAs). After proposals were submitted and a rigorous desk and field appraisal was conducted by an Independent Appraisal Agency (IAA), the first batch of successful proposals was funded in June 2018. Below is the list of the second batch of successful proposals comprising of 120 Common Interest Groups (CIGs) distributed in six counties.

    UTaNRMP takes this opportunity to thank all the community groups who expressed interest in the 4th call for proposals and CONGRATULATES those whose proposals were successful.
