Event Details :

UTaNRMP and PROCASUR have organized a learning route in the upper tana catchment/UTaNRMP project area on community natural resources management from 4th-10th November 2018.  The main objective of this Learning Route is to expose, through face-to-face learning in the field,  staff from the IFAD Funded Small-Scale Pastoralists and Agro-Pastoralists in Sudan through the Livestock Marketing and Resilience Programme to a set of multi-stakeholders’ strategies, tools and practices that will increase farmers’ awareness and ownership in community-led natural resources management strategies and enhanced adaptive capacities in combating the negative impacts of climate change in order to reinforce the resilience capacities of rural communities and to help them adapt their livelihood systems to changing climate conditions.

A Learning Route is a planned educational journey built around the experiences of local farmers/organisations that are supported to systematise and share their knowledge with others.

UTaNRMP was picked as the host for this learning Route due to the project’s experience in community natural resources management especially using Water Resources User Associations (WRUAs) and Community Forest Associations (CFAs) in the development and implementation of Sub-Catchment Management Plans (SCMPs) and Participatory Forest Management Plans (PFMPs) in addition to other water resources aspects such as water harvesting and irrigation schemes.
