    UTaNRMP advertised for the 3rd call for proposals from community groups for civil works grants to support the implementation of civil works activities in June 2017. The call targeted specific Focal Development Areas (FDAs) within the project area. The Water User Asssociations (WUAs) and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) submitted proposals to the project and after a rigorous desk and field appraisal and approval by Project Steering Committee and IFAD, some groups qualified for the support in implementation of their proposals.

    The list of the successful groups per county and the approved approximated cost of the proposed activities is as per the attached lists. However, it is important to note that the approximated total budget per group may vary depending on the detailed design and market conditions at the time of tendering for the goods and services and during implementation of the projects.

    Water Users Associations and Community Based Organizations whose names are not listed in this notification should consider their proposals unsuccessful for funding under the 3rd call for proposals.

  • Description:

    UTaNRMP plans to utilize a portion of its funds to support placement of a Community Empowerment Coordinator (CEC) at the project coordination unit (PCU).  The officer will be serving on a one year contract renewable annually for the period of the project subject to satisfactory annual assessment. Interested applicants should be Kenyan citizens and have capacity to work with minimum supervision to meet strict deadlines as well as working outside normal office working hours.

  • Description:

    The UTaNRMP SEA report is a report on the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) of the Upper Tana Natural Resources Management Project (UTaNRMP) undertaken between February and May 2012. The objectives of the SEA included; to identify environmental impacts and opportunities of mitigation measures into programme design during the formulation stage of programmes, and in the process influence IFAD and donor support to UTaNRMP development efforts towards environmental sustainability and climate smart development; ensure the full consideration of alternative programme/project options including the do nothing option, at an early stage when there is still greater flexibility; ensure the cumulative, indirect or secondary impacts of diverse multiple activities are considered, including their unintended consequences;  ensure environmental principles such as sustainability, polluter pays and the precautionary principle are integrated into the development, appraisal, and selection of programme  options; and provide an early opportunity to check whether or not the proposed programme is compatible with existing related policies, legislation, plans and programs.

    The Upper Tana Natural resources Management Project(UTaNRMP) invited all eligible and qualified firms including those owned by Youth, Women and Persons with Disability (YWPD) to submit expression of interest (EoI) for purposes of pre-qualifying tenderers of goods, works and Services for the period 2017/18FY. The deadline for submission was July 20th 2017. This is the list of prequalified firms for the various categories for the 2017/18FY.

  • Description:

    UTaNRMP is implemented through a Community Driven Development Approach (CDD). The project provides Matching Grants to Common Interest Groups (CIGs) through the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) to support them implement Income Generating Activities (IGAs) upon submission of acceptable proposals. The Grants will be output-based with release of funds being made in tranches upon the achievement of milestones specified in the grant implementation agreement between the Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) and the CIGs.

    The CIGs will receive an initial advance of the grant amount, and will subsequently lodge requests for further disbursement as each milestone is reached and the milestone report is submitted. The PCU will engage the services of an Independent Oversight Agent (a private service provider) to appraise proposals (both desk and field) and carry out monitoring to verify the milestone achievements before further financial releases are made. This milestone-based disbursement system is intended to strengthen accountability and transparency and ensure accomplishment of agreed implementation targets.

    The project activities funded under this approach must be income generating in nature and with positive impacts to the environment. The project proposals may include the following sectors among others:

    i. Agriculture/ horticulture and related enterprises

    ii. Fisheries and related enterprises;

    iii. Livestock production and related enterprises;

    iv. Farm forestry and tree nursery development;

    v. Value addition and Food processing;

    vi. Energy saving technologies including renewable energy.

    vii. Soil and water conservation and environmental hotspots rehabilitation.

     The deadline for submission of the duly signed proposal by County Project Coordinators (CPC) to Project Coordinating Unit (PCU) office-Embu is on the forty second (42nd ) day from the date of advertisement (19th September 2017).
